Eric was born and grew up in the Durango area, actually less than a mile from Purgatory.  He started skiing at Purgatory at the age of 2. Both of his parents worked at the ski area, so he grew up ski racing.  

Eric’s first Special District experience was with the Hermosa Cliffs Fire Department, later the Durango Fire Rescue Authority. During his time with the Fire Department, he worked on multiple wildland fires, including the Missionary Ridge fire. He joined the Navy in February 2003 and, after seven years, returned to Durango with his wife and two children. Eric's family grew, and now he and his wife are blessed with three children.

Eric has been the District Manager of Purgatory Metro District since 2015 and has led the District through the process of designing, funding, and beginning construction on the new mechanical WWTF.
